New Information

Economic Development and Employer Planning System (EDEPS) Labor Market Information

For use in completion of Delaware CTE program of study applications for the fall of 2024, the "EDEPS Sept 23, 2024" document provides a comprehensive labor market summary for the U.S. and Mid-Atlantic states, including Delaware, with a focus on career clusters and pathways. It highlights employment data, wage information, and projected growth for various sectors, such as Agriculture, Construction, Health Science, and Information Technology. It also includes detailed breakdowns by career clusters for Delaware and the Mid-Atlantic region, emphasizing key metrics such as employment change, growth rates, and average wages for occupations within each cluster. A copy of the EDEPS document is also available in the Schoology CTE Cadre Group’s resources folder titled 2024-2025 CTE Director Cadre Meeting Materials.  Should you have questions, please contact mike.fitzgerald@doe.k12.de.us.

Exciting Summer Internships for High School Students

Leadership Initiatives offers immersive summer internships that give high school students hands-on experience in diverse career fields. Each program pairs students with industry experts, providing mentorship and project-based learning that prepares them for college and beyond. Available internships include: Advanced Medical Neuroscience Internships; Advanced Medical & Public Health Internships; Advanced Law & Trial Internships; International Business & Project Management Internships;  and more. Scholarships, including the Dr. Paul Kostecki Scholarship for HOSA members, are available. Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Delaware Pathways Student Ambassador Program

The Office of CTE/STEM Initiatives is excited to announce the 2024-2025 Delaware Pathways Student Ambassador Program for high school juniors and seniors in Pathway programs like Business Administration, Marketing, and Digital Communication Technology and more. This program offers students the chance to work with Tapp Network’s marketing team, gaining hands-on experience, 1:1 mentorship, and leadership development. Ambassadors will create social media content, write blogs, and receive professional guidance while building a portfolio and honing communication skills. They’ll also represent Delaware Pathways and help guide future students toward career opportunities. Applications are due by November 15. Encourage your students to apply today!

DACCTE Sponsors CTE Month Poster Contest

February is Career and Technical Education Month! To help celebrate, DACCTE, along with partners from the Department of Labor and Department of Education, is hosting a CTE poster contest. To recognize CTE as an integral part of our educational system and economy, and to celebrate, we would like to showcase the amazing talent represented in CTE classrooms every day. The winning student poster will be used to celebrate CTE Month in Delaware. Submissions will be due 12/2/24 and specific information can be found on DACCTE’s website . Questions? Building and Sustaining Effective Career Pathways

Building and Sustaining Effective Career Pathways – Bellwether highlights Delaware’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) as a leader in creating impactful and sustainable career pathways. Through collaboration with key stakeholders, Delaware’s CTE and STEM Initiatives Workgroup is advancing innovative strategies for pathways policy, implementation, and programming. A series of four briefs- Vision; Design; Stakeholder Engagement; and Resources - provides a comprehensive guide for successful pathway implementation. Informed by Delaware’s leadership, these briefs offer actionable strategies to develop coherent, equity-focused pathways that meet workforce needs. The "Pathways to Implementation" series delivers essential guidance for educators, policymakers, and industry leaders, addressing collaboration, critical design elements, and long-term sustainability. Computer Science Teachers Apply Now for Project ExCITE II

Delaware teachers of Computer Science are encouraged to apply. Project ExCITE II (Exploring Computation Integrated into Technology and Engineering) is an NSF-funded partnership designed to support teachers like you in delivering College Board’s AP Computer Science Principles (AP-CSP) course. Led by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA), in collaboration with Hofstra and North Carolina State universities, this initiative offers comprehensive professional development and ongoing implementation support. As a participant, you’ll receive a full class set of robotics/computer control materials, valued at $2500, to enhance hands-on learning in your classroom. Additionally, you’ll earn a $2000 honorarium and reimbursement for any travel expenses. This is your chance to lead computer science efforts in your district while earning 90 hours of Continuing Education Credit certified by Hofstra University. Don't miss this opportunity to elevate your teaching and inspire the next generation of STEM innovators. Training dates TBD (anticipated dates are July 20-25, 2025). Select this link to apply. Delaware Careers, formerly known as Careers&STUFF, is an essential workforce development tool highlighting organizations that offer opportunities and actively recruit job seekers. For 2024, the publication expands its focus to include more job sectors and career paths, such as Education, Government & Public Services, Leisure & Hospitality, Logistics, and Professional & Business Services, alongside established sectors like Construction & Trades, Healthcare, Manufacturing, and Financial Services. A limited number of hard copies are available. DACCTE Announce State CTE Professional Development Nights

The Delaware Advisory Council on Career and Technical Education (DACCTE), in collaboration with the Department of Education (DOE), is excited to announce the State CTE Professional Development Nights, scheduled for December 5, 2024 (Topic: Bringing New Life to Advisory Committee’s. Virtual Meeting PDMS Course #43015; Section # 87356) and March 27, 2025 (Location/Format - To Be Determined. PDMS Course #43017; Section #87357), from 4:30 PM to 6:30PM. These sessions will offer valuable updates and a platform for providing feedback on key issues affecting CTE programs. All CTE educators and cadre members are encouraged to attend and contribute to shaping the future of career and technical education in Delaware.
